First Attempt at Posting a Link- Check This Out
Like the title says this is my first attemt at posting a link so I will probably get something wrong (it doesn't help that I chose one of the longest addresses on the web to link to) but here goes nothing http://www.shoutwire.com/viewstory/1...ange_The_World
Obviously the technology is still in its infancy, but I think it has real potential for reptile applications. I posted this here due to the ongoing debate/ confusion surrounding the lighting requirements of monitor lizards (also, thats where my interest and experience lies), if anyone wants to move this to another forum feel free.
Regards, AJS

UV? Just because it's white light doesn't mean it has UV.

From what I read I dont think it has a specific high UV requirement, it's supposed to match the overall daylight colour spectrum much more closely than anything available at the moment. Also, if you look at the report it mentions how the design can be used to illuminate a whole surface, imagine no more fluorescent tubes and starters just the whole ceiling (and all the walls if you like) giving off daylight quality light. Obviously there is a lot more research and development to be done, let's just hope some pioneering individual starts thinking about a herpetological application.

ahh I see...
Well I was told every basking lamp or flood lamp issues some amounts of UV, not significant for a lizard though I guess..
Im clueless to lighting..if it says UVA UVB 7.0 I use it for my lizards...otherwise I dont
