All mesh enclosure designed just for reptiles.
Easy to setup and clean. No tools required.
Made from tough nylon fabric
would one be ok for housing a monitor or tegu?

No monitor or tegus in those. They are good for Chinese water dragons and chameleons. The tegus and most monitors would tear right through it. My monitors ripped apart a 2x4 I had in their cage just from climbing on it. I had one for my dragons and they loved it. If you want a monitor you need a solid cage of some type that is not easily scratched. Mine are made of showerboard and 2x4's with Plexi doors that need to be replaced due to heavy scratches. My tegus are in an open air showerboard bucket basically it is framed with 2x4's and 2x2's. Good luck with whatever you choose.

A monitor or tegu would tear a mesh cage to pieces.
Not a good choice for an animal with large claws.
If you want to go with an inexpensive setup, plastic tubs.
This is the setup my nile baby is in. It's a 93 quart Rubbermaid. Full setup was less than $30 and he can't rip it apart.

with aregentine tegus though this setup would not last too long at all considering the rate in which they grow...I have never kept a nile (even though I would love to)but I would be curious to know what type of cage you are consdiering for the future...

I got a cages by design cage for my tegus. Of course they use it as a basking station now--they are huge.

This is just temporary. 6 months max. That way I can use the time to build a sturdy cage to last without rushing to complete it.

You dont say what type of monitor you want, but if you are looking to house something over 4ft then I would suggest a shed or greenhouse. My breeding room is full of 10'x6' greenhouses for my roughnecks and indicus complex monitors. It also contains a 16' x 10' shed which used to house a rhino iguana ( he has since died of old age after coming to me a few years ago when his owner decided to use him as a football and than let an alsation "play" with him)
I get a lot of strange looks from the home improvement store personnel when they deliver the sheds and I point them in the direction of my breeding room and tell them to set it up indoors. But honestly they are durable and sturdy and when lined with insulation and FRP they hold heat well and are easy to clean. One of the big advantages of sheds in particular is that as the floor is slightly raised you can easily set up a drainage system. Also because both sheds and greenhouses only have a single door for access you dont run into the stability problems you get when trying to install 10' of sliding glass doors ( I was actually stupid enough to try this when I first started out with monitors, luckily I realised my mistake long before my varanids saw the cage)
Finally sheds and greenhouses are much cheaper than purpose built cages of a comparable size.
Good luck if you decide to get one

Hi Nicole and amrcnwmn I am in the UK so I dont know if any link I could provide would be of much use to you. I was talking about the standard outdoor timber sheds. Check out leisurebuildings.com for an idea of what I use (I don't know how to post a link, if anyone wants to tell me how please feel free) The basic cost of the shed is a huge saving on a custom built cage, and even when you start factoring in environmental systems you're still looking at a significant saving so it is worth it, although like I said the guys who come to fit it look at you funny when you say you want it put up indoors

My herp room is actually a stable conversion on my parents property, room is a bit of an understatement. I tried using smaller tanks to begin with when I just had pythons and venomous snakes to house but it just looked so empty it was the perfect excuse to get involved with monitors in order to fill up the space!

For anyone still interested in this topic I finally found an online currency converter and an 8ft by 12ft by 10ft tall greenhouse with specially strengthened joints comes to 525 pounds which works out at 993 dollars (also we pay a lot more for things over here than you guys do in the US, so it would probably work out less than that anyway) so as you can see that is a huge saving on a specialty enclosure of a similiar size and it is designed to hold heat so you dont have to worry about insulation.
