Dragging his behind and hemipenis evert
my flavi argus just everted his(or hers) hemipenis or what looked to be one. I have heard that females can also evert something that looks like a hemipenis but isnt. Any idea why he would have everted it while taking a poop? Does this mean he is really a he? Also why would he be dragging his behind across the dirt? Any ideas would be great.... other then that he has been doing great, eating a lot has great temps and swims a lot... thanks.

Hmm.... I don't know why he would be dragging his behind....only reason I can think is with his hemipenis sticking out I'm sure it feels like he's got something else sticking out of his butt other than his hemipenis in which case he would be trying to get it out by dragging his butt... kinda like a dog dragging it's butt or a cat dragging its butt after having eaten x-mas tree icicle tinsel (don't ask LOL)... but the everted hemipenis could be prolapsed if it's been out for awhile... in which case you'll have to soak him for awhile in sugarwater and hope it goes back in... and if it doesn't go back in you may try gently helping to get it back in yourself by pushing it in (i don't know about that though).. otherwise a vet visit may be in order.

dragging his pores across the ground helps to scent his territory. it is a known behavior as my ackies will do it. and i found out my red is a male the same way when my argus was cycling. she never everted, i just found eggs under 1ft of soil she had piled up and that's how i knew i had a female.

Ah good, well I'm glad it's nothing serious going on.
Scent glands... why didn't I think of that... very good point.

well Im still not sure what I saw, it didn’t look all crazy and like a flower at the tip, which would make him a her. But also I wasn’t really looking hard at the time because I was a little surprised to see anything at all, I just saw him squat like he was about to 'crap' and then it came out. So seeing as I didn’t really look real close at it might still be a male. I'll hopefully see it again soon ha.

i never saw eversion in my female. and if i did i would imagine the eversion would not come out very far. when my ackie did it i was across the room but it was like a little pink toothpick from the distance i was at. and very quick as well. i could have missed it.
if it is near the 3ft mark and 1-1/2 to 2yrs of age, it would lay eggs soon if female. Mudd went off-feed for 3 days and cared for nothing but digging. any argus that doesn't eat for 3 days is not acting normal by argus standards. so i was able to recognize this as nesting behavior.
from what i've read it sounds like a boy. so be ready for that extra 1-1/2 to 2 ft he's gonna get compare to the females. and he shouldn't go off-feed like Mudd did, so he'sgonna eat and get big.
good luck and congratulations.
