Thats a cutie alright. Not more than a month or 2 old. Very tiny baby. Feed it all the crickets it will eat and it will be ready for pinks before you know it. Congrats and looking forward to more pics. My sav was about that size when I picked him up too. Maybe slightly bigger.

Forgot to say, I would get him off mulch. Top soil is better because they love to dig and Mulch is more likely to impact your baby if ingested then a bit of dirt

well, a few tips i would suggest are
1-get it on topsoil, deep enough to burrow. and bury the hide caves.
2-become interested in the breeding of large non-climbing roaches.
3-frozen is your friend. set aside room in the freezer or get a 4x2x2 deep freezer like i did.
4-GE 45-50 watt halogen floodlights from Lowes or Home Depot are all you need. no "special" pet store bulbs. simply elevate the basking area to desired temp. a rete's stack is good for this.
5- get a tempgun. it reads the surface temperature of an object. 130F is a good reading on a basking spot.
these are few things i've learned over the years that help make it a little easier and cost effective. especially on the lights.

First of all, it is easier to order your frozen rats/mice in bulk sometimes, and have them handy. Plus its sort of convenient..not to mention if family comes over for a nice home cooked meal, and you crack open the freezer to grab out the filets, and there are dead frozen furry things in there, you may not get any more company LOL
If roaches get out in your house, it is likely you may have more roaches.
Thats why you get the ones that cant climb...Lizards and monitors LOVE roaches I hear.

The roaches they sell for feeders are tropical. They can't breed at temps lower than like 83. They are illegal in florida though.

I believe he keep f/t in his freezer. He was just saying why would he need a freezer when he keeps them with all his food already. I hope I'm right

i dont think so now that I actually READ the post correctly..
What I was actually referring to, is that he could order several bags of 10-25 mice/rats and still have room for the sirloins..

Well I need to seriously invest in a small freezer..I have 2 bags of 10 Jumbo Rats and 2 bags of 20 mice in my freezer...no room for the Eggos! !
Not to mention when you open the door, you see rats butts first thing! Pretty gross...I actually double bag them for "anti icky" purposes

Ask Adry, she'll even vacume back for FREE!!!! lol We have an extra freezer in the basement that we keep extra food in. I have the whole bottom drawr and now the bottom shelf also to keep rodents in. Its great. I have a rat in the freezer upstairs and I get yelled at. lol
