T is eating..... A quick tip for the picky monitors
Ok, after I moved him to his new cage over a month ago he wasnl't eating much at all and starting to loose weight. He ate about 3 mice the second week in there and nothing the first week. I have been dropping a few weanling mice in there and sometimes he would eat them and other times he wouldn't. It was a waste. So today I decided I would try like I did in the old times(when sh was a baby) and use mice and rat "salad" trick I developed. All you do is take a mouse and a rat of about the same size and cut them up into pieces when they are still frozen, put them in a bag together and let them thaw in HOT water from the sink. Smush them together and let the "juices" soak in for about 5 minutes. Put them on a plate and set them in the cage. I had to take a roach and smush is head before I droped him on the "salad". The movement catches their eyes so all you have to do is just watch them dig in. He will get another plate of it in a while so he puts his weight back on he lost.

but sometimes ya do what ya gotta do. and it likes it, so everybody wins.

I just use a little rubbermaid shoebox lid as a plate. He doesn't mind the mess at all.
