amount to feed and how often to feed a savannah.
Well I went to the petstore and there was a very healthly looking sav there that has been there for months and it is fed a dozen crickets a day and a mouse every 3-4 days, does this sound right?? He seems to be of a healthy weight, and very happy. So when he's an adult will that just be a regular size rat or what. i am debating getting a sav its just the enormous amount of food is why I am holding off, 10-15 mice for a adult a feeding??? Wont a rat do??

Not sure on that. I feed T as many rats as he will eat at a time and then some crickets(now he gets roaches). Of course he is still young so thats just my feeding schedule. He has some sort of insect in there almost all the time.

when the outgrow bugs you switch to mice and chicks. when it gets bigger you go to rats.
i feed my argus up to 10 mice in a feeding because it would be harder for her to get small rats down. savannahs and black-thoats have wider heads so rats can be offered. whichever fits better. as long as it's whole prey and eggs on occassion. supplement bugs, but you don't have to dust vertebrate prey.

my argus will put away over 800+ mice in a year. this is not including chicks, eggs or anything else. just mice. my recent order was for:
250 large adult mice
150 chicks
200 mice fuzzies
100 small mice pinkies
that's just for the argus, ackies and black heads; excluding insects for the dwarves of course. i order mealies by the 1,000s and get about 300 crickets 3 times a week.
then i have to add rats on for the redtail and my JCP and then i have bugs to get for geckos and dragons.

crickets are smelly and noisy by the 1,000s. so worms and roaches can be alternatives when dealing with bulk prey.
so for crickets i go to bait shops and gut load 24hrs prior to feeding. however i now need to get small 3/8 crickets and mini mealies because of the 3 month old varanus tristis i just got.
