Dried Tail... Update... He is a little shorter now
Well he went to the vet and he recommended that we take the affected area off and a little bit further up to make sure nothing gets left behind to come back later. We went with it and he’s ok. He was put to sleep for the operation and was cauterized with a laser to stop the bleeding. It sounded like the best way to go about it. He is to be giving oral drops twice daily and has a bandage until tomorrow when I take it off. He seems ok, we just got him and he is still running around and active. He was also nice about it and didn’t bite at all. The part of the tail removed has been sent out to find out what why it happend and to make sure that it is treated so that it dosen't continue. Thanks to all the people who replied when I posted the pics in the first thread. here are some pics from tonight....

ya he seems fine today... eating like normal. He didn't want to eat his pinky that had his meds on it at first, but then he decided to eat it anyway. I still feel bad for him. I am just waiting on the report on the pice of tail that was removed. After that comes back clean then I'll feel better ha.

I'm glad you got him to the vet so quickly. Sounds like he's gonna be just fine. Thanks for the update. I'd be interested to know how those test results come back...

We need to have more responsible herpers like you. Not many people would rush to the vet for that so quickly and not very many would pay all the money to get tyhe problem fixed. I bet all will turn out and he will be happy and health as any argusxflavi cross. How long is he now? He looks like he could take fuzzies now.

-Thanks. I am not sure how long he is now, I think he is close to 12in. Well he is an inch or so shorter now but hes still growing fast. When I first got him (10/05/05) he went into the vet for a check up and his weight was 29g and yesterday when he went in for his tail he was 148g. He eats alot, terds alot and is very active. I am just about to give him his 2nd dose of his meds in a few min's when the pinkys thaw. It wasn't cheap to have all this done but hey... if your going to buy the animal in the first place, be ready to take care of it, right?.

Looks like you're putting the meds on the outside. Have you tried injecting the pinkies so he can't taste it?

Do you have a syringe? One with a needle would be best, but a small one without will work.
If you don't have a needle, just cut a tiny hole in the abdomen and stick the tip of the syringe in there and unload it.
If he's going to be on meds for more than a week, you should call your vet and ask if you can swing by and get a needle syringe. He/she should be more than happy to give you one for free if you explain what it's for. It will make things tons easier.
I have gotten really good at injecting meds into rats and mice and other prey items for birds.

I have lots of old syringes here. We get the ones for oral use only and they work good. I just use a needle and make a hole big enough for the tip to go in and inject them. I'm guessing its a powder med right?

Yeah, it should work just as well, but it might be a bit messier so just be careful.
Also, I would let the meds soak into the muscle before you feed. I don't know how he eats, but you don't want to risk him snapping on it just right and squeezing all the good stuff back out.
I've been assuming it's liquid. If it's powder, you can probably just mix it with water and then inject it, but I would check with your vet before doing that, just to be sure.
