my freind is giving me his savanah cause he doesn't have time for it. I'm getting a 75 gallon tank for it. dirt for a savanah? top soil? cypress? mid 80s to low 90's with 130 basking spot(with spot lamp?) bugs and rodents? somebody spill their guts so i feel better informed how to take care of this bad boy [img]modules/Forum/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif[/img]

Ok Savannah rundown. Savannah's eat meat! Cricket's when little, mice when bigger. Substrate use dirt or dried out bed-a-beast. Temps should be around 100 to 120 for a basking spot and about 75 or higher on the cool end. Night time temps can drop to 65 to 70 Humidity 0% is probably best but normal house humidity is fine. Feeding schedule for baby's daily, for adults every other day. Also recommend a UV light for this guy but several top breeder's say they do fine without it!

sorry bout the double post tried one earlier this week and i want to prepare the tank corretly. low humidity for a svsnah then huh? thats what i thought but to many sites were combining care lists with all monitors niles, dwarf, water.... would it be bad to feed a monitor on cypress? thanks for all the help

Yeah that would be fine! Trust me they can dig through just about anything! Ever seen the nail's on one of these puppy's? Just make sure the potting soil doesn't have the styrofoam peices in it.
