Well the lizards are here...
As some of you know my son decided he wanted a lizard... After research and narrowing it down I decided on a Arg B&W Tegu for him.... Good thing I did not place an order as he came home yesterday with a 4Lx2wx1.5h tank with two little Sav Monitors (what HE wanted lol)..They are about a foot each and not very friendly at all!!! Know we must construct another cage for the second one.... I wish he would have consulted me first as I had planned on this as a gift for him and would not have gone with the savs.. Oh well... Here we go lol!!!

A little more detail... I personally just spoke with the person who were fostering these rescues... They are about 13months old and are a foot each... They must have never been held or at least not very much... They run away from you and hiss while making small biting attempts... Hopefully with my help my son will be able to tame them down so that they can be handled... Any ideas or thoughts more than welcome...

All I can really recommend doing is patience and determination, Oh and 1 thing that is a nessecity with tempermental savs is grippy gloves I would use kevelar, that stuff is strong and can withstand a pretty nasty bite.

Monitors are generally biters. I haven't seen many overly-tame monitors in my day. I would just stick with it. Handle them on a regular basis... find some way to associate your scent to an un-threatening environment.
Monitors can be a struggle sometimes though. Stick with it!

I'll get some pics later of my savs hissy fits, they are horible then I will try to get some pics of a few bits, shes only about 14" now but what a painful bite she can inflict. A recomend using gloves for a while till you realize what she does before she tries to bite. Like maybe puff up, take a deep breath, just watch their body language. The when you realize thet try to control their head before they latch on. This has worked for me.
