I read the articles about monitors being venomous
After I read them I started to think about all the times I got bit by tess. EVERY time I get bit by her and she latches on and part of my hand burns really bad and my finger where i get bit starts to swell up. I am not planning on getting bit but next time it happens I will post pics and you guys can tell me what you think, It could just be bacteria but man does it hurt

hmmm..... i bet it is just bacteria. ive heard that dusting with powders from
T-rex can, if stored in a garage or other cold/damp place can give your sav a type of bacteria in its mouth... not really mold, but close. there was someone else who reported synthoms like those after being bitten. unless you two are allergic.... but thats not likely. maybe you should talk to him. (not to get you mad at me or anything, but if you train her you wouldnt get bitten in the first place.)
good luck!
Abby

"Train her". what a laugh. Savannahs are naturally feisty and they bite for a good reason, in fear. Its a natural instinct to bite if they can't run off. You will have a hard time "training" a sav not to bite at all. I don't know of very many people that have raised a savannah from a baby that have never been bitten, Then I bet most of those that "Have Never" been bitten are to self embaressed to admit they have an evil lizard. I try to handle her for 20 minutes a day and she gets more calm every day. I have learned what she does before she bites so I know to control her head before she does latch on. What and eveil vice grip she is. I thing It may be some kind of an allergic reaction that does it. Its usually a burn but lately it has been an intense itch. I don't know but the best I can do now is prevent is

Some folks are just more sensitive to it than others I think.

It was anafelectic shock (sure I didnt spell it right) It has happened before to other people but very rear. A herpatologist I know by the name of Tom Hudak was called when I was bit and knew what was happening that is what saved me. He said it was documented and he read it but never come across someone being allergic. I guess it is told if you are allergic to bee's you can be allergic to Monitors.

Any idea if you'll have the same reaction to other kinds of bites? I had a severe anaphylactic reaction to a sav bite in September, and Dr. Fry said that about half of my symptoms were what they were finding in his venom study. I haven't been bitten by anything since then, but I was told if I got bit by a sav again, it'd most likely be fatal because of how quickly it happened last time. It doesn't help that I also happen to be allergic to antihistamines... I just haven't been able to get any kind of opinions on whether I might have a similar reaction to other lizard or snake bites.
