say hi to my new ackie :)
well i just brought home a yellow ackie monitor so far so good he is everything ive wanted so far really active and eats good, loves the crickets doesnt eat mealworms lol just thought i would try to post some pics

sweet how old/big? this is mine, Just got the little baby But he doesnt like to come out of his little hide/home much, does yours 'hide' alot? and he likes to crap if you pick him up... hope that will stop sooner or later, anyone think it will?

he is always out under his light or laying in the open hardley ever hides and hasnt pooped on me(yet) is urs a red or yellow? mine is a yellow and the said it was about 18 months and he is about 18in long from nose to end of tail...already eaten about 15 crickets.

Mine is yellow and about 3in head to tail maybe 4in.. he eats alot tho. I have herd its pritty normal when then crap when scared.... i hope it is ha.

Thats what most smaller monitors do. Best thing with monitors, imo, to get them comfortable with human contact is to no touch him until he starts comming out of his hide alone. The worst thing you can do is lift his hide and take him out, because he will now have no place that he feels is safe.

There Chris, you heard it from someone else too. Are you listening yet?
If your monitor craps on you, he's really scared. This is counterproductive to getting him to trust you. As he grows, he won't be so scared of you *as long as he has no reason to be*. Not rocket science, is it?

Thats another thing. Keep his enclosure the same as long as possible and dont change anything. It will help in making him feel more secure. As well give him as many different hide spots and he wants.

mine seams to be pretty calm right now no bitting or craping yet lol hes calm in ur hands and when hes back in his cage hes all over the place chasing and eatting crickets.

i dont know how used to people he is but he is alittle older...so what does ur guys and girls ackies eat i know they eat crickets and meal worms sometimes even pinkies but what do ur ackies like as a special treat or to mix up the food intake, dont want to give him the samething all the time
