need help monitor has sore mouth

hey there i just bought a male and female savannah monitor from the pet store i have never raised this type before when i got them the male had a sore on the left side of his mouth, i have been putting polysporine on it to keep it clean. The other day when he was eating, he opened his mouth and it looked like cheese curds in the inside where the mouth joins top to bottom i think it might be mouth rot, is there anything that i can buy myself to treat this please help sorry about the punctuation

I have used the betadine treatment in the past---but realize some serious cases may need a vets evaluation and some antibiotics.
