wood for my tank?

hey would it be ok to take uuh say branches forom trees but then wittle all the top layers off so that u just get the solid inside then boil the wood and clean it do u think that would get rid of any parasites if not what are the ways to get rid of everyliving thing in it? also i have a nile monitor if that makes any difference

i think the best thing to do is soak in bleach water for about 12 hours. then soak it in pure water for 12 hours, then let it dry completely. if any pleach smells, pure it for a few more hours
