feeding savanna monitor
My savanna monitor is probably around a year and a half old and is about a foot/foot and half long. I feed him about one adult mouse per week. I have seen on different sites that I should feed him 2 to 3 mice ever 3 to 4 days. My monitor appears to be fat. Should I be feeding him more mice even though he appears obese. I have a 55 gallon tank.

The usual rule of thumb is "Keep'em hot and Feed'em a lot!"
The best site to get advice from would be Pro-Exotics. They really know their stuff. Although they no longer sell Savannah monitors, their care is very similar to the Black throats. That caresheet is here.

perhaps you should start thinking about a larger enclosure. You feed him one adult mouse a week and nothing else?

WELL SHE IS RIGHT ABOUT THE BIGGER ENCLOSURE....NOW....TAKE YOUR MONITOR OUT AND LET HIM WALK AROUND AND GET SOME EXERSISE OFTEN.
LOOK AT HIS/HER STOMACH & IF WHEN WALKING IT TOUCHES THE GROUND,
HE/HER IS OBESE IF NOT...UP THE DIET ALITTLE MORE & USE SUPPLEMENTS.
I THOUGHT MY 1 YEAR OLD MONITOR WAS SMALL...MINE IS 28 INCHES...
GOOD LUCK....SAVANNAHMAN OUT imp:

This is an old post I know,
I have been to that site but I have not seen where it goes to any detail on feeding adults. Do you see it? Did I just miss it?
