What should I do? Does anybody know if there is a problem giving a gravid Burm meds? Will the meds effect the eggs? This year is my first year breeding and from what I heard that this snake might snap out of it after havig the eggs. Oh BTW she has URI. Please help I dont want to lose the eggs at all cost. I know this might sound cold but here it goes. I would rather lose the snake than the eggs. Here is why I can always get another breeding size burm next season also a burm that gets an uri has a tendency to alway get it again and again. So what would you do? I know I'm going to get alot of poopy on this so go ahead fire away. Thanks Pythonman#1

i understand about not wanting to lose the babies, but you dont wanna lose the momma neither!
i dont know about any side affects by giving the mamma meds during her gravid time.
hey, you gotta remember- boids are hardy creatures. i would raise the heat to a full 90-92 degrees on both sides of the tank- day and night! that usually dries up RI's quickly and effectivly!
i would go that rout- just in case meds can hurt.

OK................All I wanna say is that it sounds to me that you are only interested in making $$$$ off the babies, and really don't care if your snake lives or dies as long as she does it after you gotten your babies!!! That is a bunch of poopy, you should be as equally concerned for the health and safety of your mama as much as you are the babies! I personally think you shouldn't own any animals with that "I can get another" attitude! Just my 2 cents!

Let us know when your wife or G/F is gravid with a cold, and we'll gladly mail her a copy of this post.
But anyways, I have heard this argument before on other animal types.
A good vet can give you small miracles by getting them all to have a fair chance.
The only pregnant animal that I have ever suggested not going to the vet with was a cat.
This was because she was infested with screw worms and neither her or her litter were ever going to have anything but a 99% chance to have negative patient care outcome.
Needless to say, I was the one that handled her demise.

yah set that burm mommy to be on preheat and bake and see if keeping her warm (90-92 degrees) 24/7 doesn't curb the sniffles....you also need to kill the humidity for awhile. It's ok to raise it for short periods but for the most part should be really arid while treating an RI. Push fluids...Not all RIs require antibiotics. Some go away with dry heat ....I have found that dry heat coupled with daily warm baths works better though. Keeping the humidity high throughout an RI tends to up the mortality statistics due to the congestion breaking up too fast and drowning the snake. They aren't very good at coughing.
I would atleast contact a vet about the possibilities of using Baytril or some other antibiotic... but if you can get positive improvment with keeping the heat up 24/7 and lowering humidity...I would avoid any injections...even if the meds don't do harm, the trip to the vet in a bouncing car or the stress from the shot itsself might.

if your burmese is suffering from reccuring RI's it may be burmese disease..and it would be wrong to knowingly sell these babies to others. If it is just a normal RI than up the temps as the others have said and see if it passes. Now this may be harsh, but if your burm ends up dying as a result of you not treating its RI, i hope you loose all the eggs as well.

I have up the temps. And it seems like she is getting better, but time will only tell. She is starting to cough up felm less and less. This is the first time she has ever been sick so I doubt it is burm diease. Ive tried to get some Baytril but all the vets I've talked to want to see the snake.I feel it would be worse on the snake to take it out in the cold and moving a gravid burm is not heathly niether.I could end up with an egg bound snake by moving her. So I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. I will however be taking her to a vet as soon as she as the eggs I DON'T LIKE A SICK SNAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to get her up to par asap.

I know this may sound strange but it's true. She has shown no signs of sickness. After her pre-lay shed she has been breathing normal. She has no problems far as wheezing or coughing. I have keep her temps up and watching her closely. Thanks for the concernment. I will keep you updated on her and the eggs.
