Question about my ball python..
I have had him for about a month. He has eaten three times and
not gone to the bathroom yet. Do I need to be worried? I have
put him in a warm bath twice and still nothing. The lady that i bought
him from ( a pet store) said that he should always go in between
feedings but he was obviously hungry and i figured that he would
eventually go.
What do you guys think? Any advice, suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert, one will come along and respond. But from what I've heard there is no need for alarm yet. Your snake doesnt have to go between feedings, and mine seldom does. I'm sure there is a certain time period for when you should actually worry and someone will come along and let you know when that is. As for now, don't worry, its still early.

Just a few basic questions.
How old/big is your critter?
What are your temps in your cage (hot side/cold side)
How big/what kind are the items your feeding?
You said 3 times in a month, Is that once a week?

He arrived at the pet store as a hatchling in sept. I got him a month ago. He is young.
I am giving him smaller mice than he is accustomed to eating. ( i have corns and some
frozen fuzzy's in the freezer ) I am getting hoppers tomorrow and will feed him then,
but i figured that he would be ok on a bit smaller until i got more. I live in a rural
area and there isnt a local pet store and the one that i drive too im not real crazy about
their mice, so i ordered some from rodentpro.com I hope that wasnt a stupid mistake, but
we will see what arrives. At any rate I have an under the tank heater on one side of the
tank and a lamp on cooler days during the dayon the other.
He seems perfectly healthy and hopefully he will just go when he has too.
any suggestions?

Diane, don't worry about your lil Royal. They defecate anywhere from every 3 to 6 weeks. As they get older and larger they hold on to the waste and use it as ballast. They are short fat snakes and need the extra weight to hold them in place as they strike and costrict their prey (in the wild. You are right to feed frozen thawed ) You can feed 1 or 2 prey items the same size as his thickest girth, once a week for the first two years. After that switch to 1 prey item every 2 weeks.
Be sure to provide him/her with at least 50% humidity. I don't knwo what the pet store told you, but they do not like it too hot or dry. Max temps at 88, cool side about 80. In the wild they use rodent burows where it is cool and damp to escape the arid heat.
Good luck with him/her and welcome to the site!

How do you expect him to go to the bathroom when he's locked inside his cage?
