Male burmese
I have about 1 year of experience with with large pythons (and 3 years with RTBs) the pet store I worked at had 2large burmese, a 15ft/85lb, and a 13ft/50lb, both females. I was curious if the males get much larger than 13 ft and 50lbs. I know some of you have older burmese so I was curious on just how big they get.

Ace theres no set scale as to how big they get. I've seen them get fairly large 13 foot or bigger and I've also seen them stay fairly manageable just really depends on the genetics of the snake.

well it all really depends on the size inclosure you keep them in as well as being fed appropriate. my uncle has a 16 ft male right at 100 lbs. but for the most part females stay larger.

Do they really only grow to cage size? I thought that was an old wives tale...

it is, its like saying if you were kept in a box your whole life, you would never grow... you may not grow well, but you still would grow.,

That is a misconception perpetuated by pet shops. They say the same thing about fish.

Yeah put an Oscar, or a Red Tail Cat in a 20 Gallon tank. In no time, he won't be able to turn around. haha

yeah, I worked at a PetsMart for a short while, and the Manager tied to tell me this fallacy and got upset when i would not pass the false information to the consumer.

I couldn't work at a pet shop, between stupid Coworkers and stupid customers, I'd snap. I was in a local petshop recently. I know the owner pretty well, so we were just BSing. Somehow we got to taking about snakes and someone overheard and piped in that he used to have a 12 ft albino Ball Python. I said "I think you mean Burmese." Nope it was a Ball. I should have smacked the guy.
