Cage size?
Currently i am housing my female albino burm in a 82X48 inch wood cage, its big but it sucks, it dosent heat very well, it dosent hold humidity well, the glass has been broken ex. ex. well i was thining about buying her a nice new plasic cage and get a proporational thermostat you know the works, but i am a little consened on the size of the cage. so do you guys think a 72X24 inch cage would be ok? and what size cage do u guys keep your snakes in?

Good call BW. What size is the burm? And what do you heat the cage with? 72X24 is a good size for a burm, Unless she is a monster.

I don't know of many plastic cages designed for adult burms. I would build one about 8 to 10 feet wide by 3-4 feet deep. Or have one custom built. Just my 2 cents from someone who has never "kept" adult burms as pets, just rescues. But when you decide to get one of the giant snakes, giant housing comes with the deal. Still a room is best. But heating and humidity are always going to be aproblem in large enclosures. A misting system would help with humidity, and there are a number of options for increasing temps. Your current cage sounds like a decent size. Just may take some work and creative thinking to get the conditions right.

Have you considered getting the expandable Pedo...I mean, Boaphile cages? That's one way to get a cage as large as you need it.

When you go to glass shop and pick up new glass for your cage. Be sure to ask for tempured glass... It is more resistant to breakage.

Tempered glass is costs a pretty penny, i just use plexiglass on my cages. I use Pearlco heat bulbs from www.beanfarm.com

72x24 would be way too small for a full grown burm. My burms enclosure is 48Dx96Wx36H. I use a pro products radiant heat panel, I don't remember the model #.This winter I had to add a 150W CHE becasuse the panel wasn't keeping it warm enough. I might upgrade to a bigger panel or maybe I'll cut the enclosure down to 24"H. The only problem with that is it will be difficult to reach the back of the enclosure to clean. Keeping humidity up is still a problem even after putting a humidifier in the room. After I get everybody moved to the basement I might invest in a misting system.

Squeezer has the right size, maybe a little tall but like said you need to reach the back of the enclosure. Fact of the matter is, although maybe a good enclosure, Boaphiles are not right for large pythons. They are not deep or tall enough. Check out Cages by Design, or Visions if it is a male.
