I am still pretty skeptical about the dwarf retics, especially when they have been breeding them with normal sized retics. I dohn't want to spend $2000 on a normal retic. As for the dwarf burm, I saw them for the first time today. Here is the link... http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=190106,190106

I'm not sure if I'm convinced of the Dwarf Burm's yet or not. I checked out the link you posted SP and I'm sure you thought the same thing I did that photo could have be staged. It doesn't actually show the egg comming from the animal. And even if the animal is laying the eggs, could it be that the animal was a normal juvi Burm put into breeding too early and the egg's were infertile. By the way I thought the look of the snake was supposed to be different from regular Burms? That look's like to me a regular phase Burm?

Yeah Shad, I thought the same thing. That does look like a burm, and not the Sri Lankan Rock Python or whatever it was.

I took a look at the pics and I for some reason still can't buy it. Anyone can lay a juvi burm on a pile of eggs and say the were laid by a Dwarf. I do believe Dwarf Retics are legit simply because they have be bred for the genetic trait over several years and we actually have offspring to compare them. But Dwarf Burms? I have a Burm thats over a year old and he's only 5 1/2 feet is he a Dwarf? No! Was he underfed? Nah! I'm sure Constrictor_BO fed him fine in the 6 months he had him. And prior to that I had him the first 6 months of his life and he never turned down a meal every 7 to 10 days. But I can't classify him as a Dwarf because of his smaller size, its just he grows different than some others.

just curious Julius, why do you laugh at having Bob Clark and credibility used in the same sentence?

Okay I haven't read any of the previous posts because I'm too lazy so if this has already been answered like I'm about to, I'm sorry for repeating it.

There is not such a species as a dwarf burmese python, but there is in fact a subspecies known as python molurus pimbura, Ceylonese Python. They look quite similar to burmese pythons in appearance except that that have a "blushing" face and a lighter shaded body and different patterning much like the Indian Python. You will usually find pimburas crossed with indians and that's why people usually get mixed up with these two. They're temperment is quite nasty compared to that of the burmese python, so they are not suitible for beginners. Most reach a length of about 8 feet (2.4 meters).

You know what I think they do with those so called "dwarf burms"? I think they must've fed them like pinkies all their lives and stunted them so small they reached sexual maturity and ended up being able to breed and lay eggs. Very unhealthy

Just a thought
