Hi

Long time since ive posted on this site, good to have a long look round the site again.
Anyway......
I was browsing through some sites when i found one which was selling some sort of rectic called a drarf rectic? So whats the deal with them are they just rectics been bred for size?
How big do they get cos the normal rectics are a bit ENORMOUS (is that how u spell that word?).
If anyone can tell me where i can see a pic of a fully grown one too that would be quite interesting.

Thanks for your time!
Jowex

im no expert on retics, but u should shoot mike over @ constrictors.com an email. he breeds jampea dwarfs, and super dwarfs...and has jampea x superdwarfs
apparently his super dwarfs were gravid at 6 feet... and jampeas get somewhat larger 10 feet + but not as large as a normal retic "theoretically"

Dwarf Retics are mostly the result of some insular island populations finally becoming available. Jampnea (sp) island is one, and there is one or two more I believe. Like most insular island populations, due to lower amounts of available prey items, and more limited space, over time (thousands of years presumably) these Retics either never got the propensity to get big, or lost it. On average they end up achieving similar sizes to boas, which makes them much more desirable than the full sized mainland counterparts, to some. Right now I have seen them go for 250 and up, with albino forms being much more still.
