Are childrens python's easy to maintain. If you dont want a ball python would you say that they are the next best thing. How long could a childrens python be housed in a 20gl long tank.

Thanks

Childrens pythons make fine pets, 20g long tanks would be ok.
When they reach full adult size (around 4 feet) they may be more comfortable in a larger tank,
I have seen them housed in much smaller, and do ok.
I wouldnt say they are the next best thing to a ball python or a BCI/BCC, but they are fairly simple to maintain.
If it is what you want to have as a pet, and you research their care before you get one, then there is no reason why one wouldnt do well for you.

Out of the childrens pythons I would
suggest Antersia maculosa or spotted
python over Antersia childrenii.They
generally grow a little larger (1ft) hold their
pattern better into adulthood & are a bit
more outgoing .Both species have fantastic temprements.
In my opinion a 20 gal tank would only be suitable for
the first 12-18months of its life but just fine till then.
