Ahhhhhh.....which end is the head????
I can see this snake wiggling his head in front of his prey to make it think it's his tail.....
Very unusual looking python!

Re: Calabar Pythons
OMG! I want a few females very VERY badly. Do you breed them? I love these things, but the only ones I ever see are all wild caught and not de-wormed, which is a risk I'm not willing to take...
Yours are beautiful.

Those two are Wild Caught and not De-Wormed, and they won't be wormed unless they have obvious problems. Thier are alot of fallacies about proper de-parasitation; and cramming them with Panacaur and flagyl and calling it good is one of them. It would literally take 6-8 months with many different De-Wormers/Anti-Biotics, Fecal samples, and the understanding of how the many life cycles/Rythms of the many Parasites work to call it "Clean". Proper husbandry is all they need. Thier immune system will do the rest, in a quicker and more efficient way.
On a side note - These guys, ounce for ounce, are incredibly strong. More so than alot of Pet Trade snakes. I bought these two to Re-sell, but I may hold onto them and see if I can produce some CBB animals. Although it will be hard with these two, as they are both Males

Re: Calabar Pythons
In a general sense I love this forum because people post pictures of the most amazing rare looking snakes. I say looking because I don't know how rare they are but this is so cool. I haven't seen many snakes who have a uniform color for head and tail but variations along the body.
Thank you so much.

Re: Calabar Pythons
Both males, huh? That happened to a friend of mine who bought them as a "breeding pair". lol
And thanks for clearing up the de-worming thing. I'll keep that in mind. I do see calabars at reptile shows but usually they are not in the best condition when I do see them (mainly because of the conditions that the seller is keeping them in). Hopefully I can grab a few next time I see them.

Re: Calabar Pythons
I'll tell you what, I usually don't touch West African stuff. But these guys were so clean that I took a gamble, and I think I'm going to grab some more. Usually the stuff is covered in Ticks, but thier wasn't any to be found. Hopefully I can pick up some gravid Females, along with a couple Non-gravid Females and see how they do.
