Re: live, pre-killed, F/T?

wow last time i was around here if anyone even suggested live was okay they would get chewed out ten ways to sunday.

Also yeah okay i can see how being slowly strangled to death by a snake is far more humane than a quick snapping of the neck.... -cricket chirp-

why should someone be chewed out for suggesting to feed a snake a live rodent? isnt it a perfectly acceptable method of feeding when done properly?

im not even going to get into what is more humane and how and why. if whacking is seen as a humane method by some then i would suggest reading up on euthanasia or even the constriction process. people know what they want to know and im no teacher but i know that i would never whack a rodent.

just my $0.02. please dont chew me out...

I'm not really opposed to the whole constriction process. What I AM opposed to is potentially hurting the snake over someone's idea of fun.

As far as I see it, when you bring home a rat from a pet store or some place, it's stressed out, scared. Not sure what in the world is going on. Now you throw it in a tank. It's going to resort to it's prey instincts and fight for its life. This can result in some pretty nasty bites to the snake.

How does one stop a rat from biting the snake? If the rat has its teeth sunk into a snakes face, body, etc, how are you going to pry a 7ft+ boa from its prey?
