Should I be worried?

I just got home from work and Nigel, my BP, has burrowed himself underneath his substrate. It got a little warm in my apartment today, but not to the point that he couldn't escape to the cold side of his cage. I don't want to dig him out unless I should. So is this normal behavior or should I be worried?

Re: Should I be worried?

Yeah, he's got a hide. Here's a picture of his enclosure.

He's buried in there. He's about 6-8 months, fed him last night (yes on f/t) with no problem. He's been eating well and hasn't really seemed off. I'm just worried as he's my first snake so I don't want to screw something up. I'm expecting him to shed soon as it's been a little while since he has.

Re: Should I be worried?

Thanks a bunch, I did some more research on some other sites and it seems to be a pretty common thing so long as he's doing it on the cool side. I was just freaking out because he's never done that before. He'll be getting a new cage soon that's bigger so I can put two hides in there.

Re: Should I be worried?

I always have 2 hides for my ball pythons~ one at the cool end and one at the warm end so that they can have their security needs met as well as their thermoregulating needs.

Re: Should I be worried?

When I move him into a bigger cage later this week, there will be two hides for him. I'm pretty sure he's fine, it looks as this is pretty common, particularly in aspen. However, me freaking out somewhat turned into a cute picture.

Is it safe for me to come out?

Edit: Sorry for the crappy picture, taken on a cell phone camera, left the good one at work :/
