I know you can't 100% tell if its a male of female by the way it looks, but I know you can get a pretty good idea.. how do I distiguish my BPs from male and female, I know its something about the tail, One has a longger skinny tail, the other has a shorter fatter tail, shorter fater tail is female and long skinny is male right?

It usually isn't a good way to tell. You can't even tell by the size of the spurs. Only way to find out for sure is to have it probed.

I'm sure that someone is going to come along and tell ya that
"If it's head is...then it's a male" OR
I"if it's tail is ..then it's a female/male"
Or the like..BUT the only verifiable way is to have the snake probed by someone who KNOWS what they are doing is all. Unless ya have one like the one Juls gave my daughter. he just lets it all hang out at times. Must be something of a "man proving thing" is all. lol

that's the thing i dunno where to take them, and im told having them probed is semi dangerous, no need to do it unless you plan on breeding

Probing is only dangerous if someone inexperienced does it. Otherwise it is perfectly harmless. Where are you located? Chances are someone near you can do the probing, or take it to a vet that is familiar with reptiles.

JuliusSqueezer is in the Atlanta area .... if you ask him REAL nice, he may let you go to his house and probe the snake for you. He should also be able to recommend a good vet in your general vicinity.

BP's are fairly easy to pop as adults,
and that is the method I see used most, ball pythons do not like getting probed at all.
Many snakes will just sit there if its quick, but ball pythons often fight it will as much energy as they can muster.

hmmm I've never had that problem frag. To me ball pythons are probably one of the easiest snakes to probe. Lori and I sat in a petstore one day looking for a female out of a huge pile of fresh wild caughts...almost all were males...I was probing them as fast as she could hand them to me...None put up a fight. Out of about 20 or so, there were 2 females.
Kade...If you want your snake(s) probed, I will be more than happy to do it for you. I have never injured a snake probing and have probed thousands. I live in Snellville...just pop on down 85 one day and come hang out.

If you dont know anyone that you trust to probe then take it on to Jules place. The trip is worth it once you see his collection. He may even let ya hold his rattler if your ask nicely
