Question Blood python feeding

hi everyone, i just wanted to know what you feed your blood pythons, and how often.

Personally, i feed my 2 and a half foot sumatran blood python 2 rats a month. Sometimes i cant get rats cause there all out so i feed him two good sized mice. (frozen not live)

I heard that blood pythons get obese very quickly which is bad for their health and they can become infertile( at least the females)

When my little 2 foot male gets to be about 4-5 feet, i plan on feeding it rabbits. Should i feed it 1 or 2 rabbits a month?

Thanks everyone

Re: Blood python feeding

As long as the rabbits are very small, say the size of a medium/large rat, you can feed 1 every 2 weeks. Their metabolism is quite slow so feeding a medium/large rat every 2 weeks is quite sufficient.

I feed my two foot female a mouse every 7-10 days and my 4-4.5ft male a medium rat every two weeks.

Re: Blood python feeding

I feed my adult male, 5ft+ sumatran a XXL rat every 3 weeks and he's done fine with it.
