determining gender in balls

Hey all- Someone informed me of a cool trick to determine the gender of my baby RTB. I was told to gently, feel past the cloaca to the tail, for a "click", which would be the male hemipenes. Is this only for babies, or can it be done on adults, and can it be done on a Ball? I was told by the previous owner that my ball is a female, but I would like to make sure. The guy didn't seem to know much about keeping any of the animals he had.

i wouldnt trust that meathod...IMO the only accurate way is to get it probed...look into learning how to do it. I learned, and it has come in handy with many snakes, I think the meathod your talking about is with really expierienced people, and very small snakes

I just pop them, but I've been doing it a very long time and was taught by someone who had been doing it for decades. Probing works too, once they're older. The younger they are, the better it is to pop instead of probe.

The only true way to tell the sex of a snake is either by probing it, or when it is a neonate popping it. Popping is done by putting gentle pressure near the cloaca and sliding your fingers down to "pop" or invert the hemipenes so you can visually see them.

oy, well....guess both of my snakes are going to the vet, becuase I don't have the experience to prope or pop.

Either method requires having someone with lots of experience to show you how. LdyDrgn has gotten pretty good at just feeling them like you are describing, but I can't do it to save my life.

be very careful though with both meathods...let someone teach you in person before you try them yourself...I remember the first few times I probed and popped I either wouldnt give enough pressure to pop, and I wouldnt probe deep enough because I was afraid I would hurt the snake. It is a lil tricky, but eventually you get the hang of it
