Chances of reproducing Pied
Hi everyone- I have always thought that pied ball pythons were naturally occuring. Maybe I'm wrong, so hopfully you can clarify this for me. I have a friend who bred 2 pieds together, but the babies look normal. Hes selling them as 100% pied. Has it been done, or is it very rare to reproduce pieds captively?

Re: Chances of reproducing Pied
If he bred 2 pieds toghter and got no pieds. Either the genetics gods have smoted him,or there was more then one male with the female and the second one wasn't pied. Either way if the female was pied the offspring will be 100% het pied. Oh and to answer your question pied is just like any other simple recessive trait out there. There are hets.(which look normal but carry the gene) and then there are homogeneous (which visibly carry the gene).

Re: Chances of reproducing Pied
Pictures would help a lot, but as far as I know there is only one strain of pied.
That means that if you breed a pied to a pied, all of the babies should be pied.
