curious about womas
I was just curious about size, just because I had heard anything in the range from 5-12 feet...They seem like really straight forward snakes to take care of, my only concern really was size (thinking about them, in the future, possibly when I get my tax return or something...)

Re: curious about womas
5-6 Feet ... Very easy to care for ... 4X2 tanks good for adults - From Australia so they like it hot and kinda dry. They do not have pits like most pythons and stay skinnier. They are more like colubrids then pythons when it comes to girth. As hatchlings/sub adults they have very strong feeding responses. They are an exotic expensive snake
My Setup:

I like the setup. Love the T10's from Animal Plastics. Can't wait to get some.

Re: curious about womas
Do they have the notorious attitude of pythons when young, or are they more mellow (like my BP as a baby vs my JCP)

Re: curious about womas
Not an attitude when they are younger ... just an insane feeding response

good to know...I kind of like these snakes (as I say I guess "midsize")...I was looking at Dumerils Boas, they are just as easy/docile, but some can get pretty thick....The womas seem rare and like a great snake to have...About how thick do they get as adults (like yearling ball)?

Re: curious about womas
I beg to differ with some of the opinions above....
I have not seen any Womas reach the 12 foot mark but I have certainly seen a number of womas around the 7-8 foot mark. Therefore for one that size i'd obviously go for an enclosure at least 6 foot long, height doesn't matter a great deal as they are a terrestrial species.
I'm not to sure about the woma market over there in the states but here in Australia we are lucky enough to be able to buy a lot of locale specific womas and have found that some locales grow to a different sizes for example it is not uncommon for Uluru locale to get to 7 foot + in captivity where as some of the Boodarie locales only get to about 4 foot. I personally keep the Rockhampthon Downs Form and have a yearling that is already 4.5 foot... i'll be shocked if he finishes anywhere under 6 foot.
Womas in my opinion are like most python species, some are as gentle as puppy dogs, other are the devil reincarnated (unfortunately i have the former).
All in all I don't really find them any harder to care for than any of the Morelias, only thing i do differently with them is I provide a substrate that they are able to burrow into.
Cheers,
Ishka
