Mine does. She never hisses when I have her out, but she'll hiss anywhere from once to five times when I uncover her. I'm almost certain she'll never bite, she's very sweet... I think it's kind of cute, actually... I'm actually just curious if anybody else has a ball python that hisses or if this is unique. Lori seemed kind of surprised when I told her, but I don't think she would have heard it anyway, sometimes one of her Boa Constrictor will hiss and she won't notice, so I'm not sure... So? Anybody else?

2 of my BPs hiss. But they are skittish nut cases anyway. I have a male thats real nice. I just wish someone could cross a Burm with a BP so I could get one that eats normally. All mine still thing they are back in Africa where they will only get a few meals a year.

Mine's only hissed at me a couple of times. She must have been having a bad day and I disturbed her that's all. No big deal.

Pythons seem to hiss more than others. I have had 2 BP's, and currently have a borneo python. They always hissed when getting them out. None of them have ever struck at me, nor showed the desire to. I think they are just telling us that they are comfortable, and would rather not be picked up. Seems natural.

Yeah, I figured as much... She only hisses at me when I uncover her, which I construed to being her way of telling me, "Hey, look, I'm warm, and it's dark, and I'm happy. Leave me alone!" I was just curious whether or not anyone else' snakes do this. I'd never been hissed at at all until I met Lori... A few of her boas hiss, her large Carpet python hisses, and at least two of her Burms hissed at Joe and I. That's why I'm pretty sure it's a boid thing... Them and Pitouphis, anyway. I HAVE had Racers and Water Snakes rattle at me if that counts for anything, lol...

I got 2 that seem to have a attitude prob and they like to strike at ya when working in the cage or going to pick them up but i think, that was the breeders fault for not handling them and they are getting worked with everyday whether they like it or not..sooner or later they are gona realize i dont give up..Bite me or not i dont care il still handle them..only one big male we have hisses when you approch the cage..but hes ok to work with..My orange female shes the worst of them all mean as sin but shes one that came from the breeder that didnt handle her at all... I have 4 BPs and only one of them hisses. And yeah, it's only when I uncover her. Never tried to strike, just hisses like a maniac as soon as I open the lid on her cage, hehe. Silly snake.

wow.. you all must have the weirdest ball pythons..
ive got 22 adult ball pythons.. and 11 yearlings.. and not a single one of them has EVER hissed at me.. even as babies they never hissed..
ive only had 1 that ever even struck at me.. and that was cuz it was feeding day and he was grumpy and smelled food..
ill get the occasional snappy hatchling.. but that goes away after the first few handling sessions..
never had a ball python bite me.. except for a few SFE (stupid feeding errors)..
*shrug*

LOL Chris.. That BP had hissed at Brittany quite often in fact. She was the one who always took care of changing the water and cage etc for that snake usually. She has never attempted a strike though.
As for the other snakes that I have that like to hiss up a storm once in awhile... Just wait till you hear [ it's either Hershey or Loringa..I forget which one of that pair it is actually] go into their major hissing thing. Sounds like a huge storm blowing in and what not. Even I couldn't miss that when they do it at all..LOL.

My BP hisses when I mist him, and when I uncover him. He's never struck though, and is actually quite docile.
