Ah good.  Aspen is ok if you treat it first...aka freezing or baking (not sure how to bake it though). When I was using it it was deep winter time, so I just left it outside for a few days then let it thaw to room temp before using it.

I don't think even as hot as it is HERE is hot enough. I heard something like 350deg in the oven? It's about 90F here and humidity is about teh same.

I have never treated aspen from a petstore, it would be just as sanitary as eco earth from a petstore. The only time you would want to treat aspen, etc. is if you get it from a hardware store such as home depot. A lot of people do that with cypress.
I go through 25+ pounds of aspen a month...could you imagine how much work that would be to treat...my poor oven  haha!
