Re: Check it out! DUW
Again the best bet is to go with nature. Truthfully I do not keep small reptiles so I can't help you other than to tell you to look them up by python regius.
According to my smithsonian book it says, " west and central Africa. In lowland rain forest" So you might be on the right track

I sure hope so. She really seems to be enjoying it. All her plants are plastic but she wiggles through them and peeks out, she even tried to snuggle up on top of them in the corner when I first turned her lights out. I guess she thought they were comfortable lol.
I am going to keep a very close eye on her though with this waterfall until I can set up some other system.

Ball Pythons in the Wild (DVD) - Ball Python regius - (item 320143319718 end time Aug-08-07 09:36:14 PDT)
Check that out. Again I know nothing about ball pythons so you are on your own, but if it were me I would buy that dvd, in fact I am going to look for ones for my reptiles.

Re: Check it out! DUW
I would think that as long as their hides during the day are dark while having some kind of light on the enclosure (mostly for the person's viewing pleasure), the snakes will be fine... I don't have any problems with my ball pythons with the lights in their enclosures. The hides they have are snug and dark enough during the day. I would think it replicates daylight while hiding and gives them a better day/night cycle, even if they're hiding in the dark all day.
That's a nice looking setup you have there. I get a lot of my fake plants from Wal-mart, and a lot of my variegated spider plants look like those you have in his tank. My veiled chameleon likes to hide under them. I think maybe if you clean out the waterfall and all the accessories, cycle the pump through a light bleach/water solution a little bit and everything else with a light bleach/water solution and just rinse well, it should be okay for reuse.

Thanks! I'll be filtering new water in every other day, with a complete water change each week, sooner if needed, and a thorough cleaning each month. I think she will be fine, but I am definitely going to look into a misting system. I've gotten quite a bit of negative feedback about her w.fall.

Re: Check it out! DUW
I was checking out waterfalls because I have the chance to get a free one from Zoo Med as compensation for all of their heat lamps malfunctioning. I asked the reptile store if these (waterfalls) were good for snakes. The manager said they are really designed for lizards. I will have to get more information. I don't see why they couldn't be used for snakes. Of course all Zoo Med products are pretty suspect to me these days. If I find out anything I will let you know.
