Savu Island Python
I am in the process of rescuing a Savu Island Python. Does anyone know what their life span is? I was told that she is about 3 years old. I should be getting her this weekend, along with her 50 gallon tank. She has not been eating well the past couple of months... but nomally eats 1 small mouse a week... does this sound right? Also any suggestion on this breed of snake?
Thanks

Re: Savu Island Python
I've never heard of the species either, but I can't imagine a three year old python eating "small mice". Welcome to the site, and good luck with the snake. Once you see it eat once or twice, you should probably switch over to frozen/thawed rats.

Re: Savu Island Python
never heard of savu's, man you guys need to step away from boas a moment. haha, not really, but oh well.
you should probably at the bare bones minimum google savu python, but i remembered that henry piorun wrote an article about them several years ago, and he has a quick and dirty write up about them here:

Re: Savu Island Python
Thanks...I'm just too new. I'm not particulary "obsessed" with boas more than pythons, just new.

Re: Savu Island Python
Joe, think Childrens Pythons, Spotted pythons, or others from that genus. They never need anything bigger than mice as full blown adults.
Although I have no personal experience with Savu, I have always loved them. Very cool pythons indeed.
