switching to rats...

hey guys, i have an 05 ball python who currently is eating mice, he is my only bp that i havent gotten to switch over to p/k rats... for the past month or so i have been scenting the rats with mice and offering it to him that way, he has eaten them the first 3 times i offered them, now he refuses... wont even smell it when i offer it, and if he does he will rub his face on the ground when i try to give it to him, as if hes saying.. "NO I DONT LIKE RATS...." any advice? is he just gonna be one of those mice eating ball pythons? or is there another strategy to get him to eat a small rat? thanks!

Is he shedding? When last did he shed? Poop? How often are you feeding him? How big is he? What's a 05 Ball Python?

he last shed sunday, 3/18/07 and pooped right after... i feed him once a week, every saturday... either the p/k small rats or 2 p/k adult mice... he is around 600 grams last time i checked was on 2/11/07. and an 05 ball python... its a ball python which was hatched in 2005, not sure of the exact date...

Gurl, its ok to have a snake that eats mice. It will just need more mice. If thats you problem then i would get a two mice and a rat so it can eat a mouse and a rat. take one mouse and use it to scent the rat. Then take the other mouse and give it that, then try to give it the rat because it will still be in a feed response and might take it. Try it. if the mice are prekilled then try to get lots of mouse blood on the rat. give it a try, you never know.
