going to the vet this Wednesday. He finally came out of the water after about 8 hours. Checked on him today and he looks normal. I think he still has a bit of the old substrate under his belly scales - certainly does not look like mites at all. He is in his dish again - I put fresh water in and guess it is too much - over the edge it is going. Ah well . . . will clean up later as I don't want to disturb him. Guess I am just a worried mom with such different behavior and will find out for sure in a couple days. *sigh*

BTW - gorgeous snakes posted here . . . will have to get some new pics of Rex soon to share.

If I were you, I would clean up the over flow of water. You don't want Rex sleeping in that wet substrate and ending up with scale rot too.

Please let us know what the vet says cause my new guy is doing the same thing and I see not one sign of mites.

Well Rex stayed in his water overnight and is still there. Will take him to work with me in his travel bag and will bring a heating pad, towel, and thermometer to be sure he does not get cold or too hot. I will be sure to post here the results of the visit tomorrow. I pray that I am just worrying for nothing . . .
