Is this normal?
Is it normal for a BP to prefer hiding on the cool side of the tank (temp around 70F)? Warm side is around 85F and humidity is 65%. She is a good eater, and has no signs of infection...I'm confused.

Its winter time she may be trying to hibernate. Who knows she knows what shes doing unless the temps you said were off then she's trying to stay cool. Where's your thermometer places? What type of heating?

Ball pythons don't much like heat despite what any of the current care sheets say. Feel sorry for the ones kept in 90 degree tanks. They are hating life.

Ok, then what should my tank heat be set at? its not at 90F, but she seems to enjoy the cool side. Can I get away with turning it down to 80F?

What I decided to do after talking to a friend is to partially cover the top of the cage (which is simply mesh) with newspaper to try to increase the humidity from the 65% it's at. I also changed the water in the bowl (which was quite chilly) with some warmer water and put it back on the cool side of the cage. Warm side temp is now thermostatically set at 85F and cool side is at around 70F. I do not have a heating pad due to issues with that. I have both warm/cool side hides along with a climber in the center. She has been exclusively staying under the cool side hide the last few days and has been decidedly anti-social. With all that said, here are my remaining questions:
-Can I use the small stone water bowl for humidity purposes and just leave it on warm side? (the bigger water bowl stays on cool side)
-What IS the PROPER warm/cool side temps along with humidity? (I hear different numbers with everyone I talk to)
-Am I retarded?

i have my bps hot side at 82 and they seem to do great on it, and try using a towel or something besides newspaper to keep humidity
