BP shedding one scale at a time . . .

This is . . . peculiar . . .

I wake up and peek in the cage, and there are single scales all over the viv glass, and Pepito has light places. What seems to be going on is that he has a thin overlayer of darker scales, and he's now loosing those, revealing the lighter scales underneath. He's lighter now, there are no raw spots.

Just a few days ago, I treated him for mites with mineral oil, and changed his bedding to coconut substrate.

So . . . eh?

The mineral oil is the key here!
It is very dehydrating and it just dried out the upper layer on the softer scales.

Nothing to worry about, just keep him hydrated and wash him of a couple more times to ensure no more oil is left on him!

I'll give Pepito and Spooky a nice bath tomorrow. Not Satan, what with her being (possibly) preggers and all. She hasn't been all scale-shedding, so she should be fine.
