Blood python - Info wanted
I went ahead and picked up a second red tail today and had another look at a blood python. The first time (feeding day) I handled the snake it wasn't to thrilled with me. Today the blood was very calm no more active than my BP's. It has a beautiful pattern (cinnamon and caramel on a light beige) and I so adore its eyes.
Does anyone here have any experience with these? How's there temper as they grow up? How long and how heavy do they get?

I have a Sumatran Blood, which is probably the one you were looking at and is more common in the pet trade.
Their temperaments depend on the individual snake, most can be moody and aggressive, others calm and puppy tame. Mine has a bit of an attitude but he's relatively gentle when I hold him and I have never been bitten by him. I would say that holding them often as babies would help with calming them down, but I haven't held mine as much as most would, and he's still a good boy.
Females can get up to 6-7ft and males 4-6ft, they can be extremely strong, heavy-bodied snakes but shouldn't be anymore difficult than a large adult boa. My boy Jupiter is only 2 years old and only a bit over 3ft and eats large rats, they grow kinda slowly in my opinion, maybe they grow faster, I'm not sure. lol
If you're the kinda person that doesn't mind a hissy-fit of an attitude like I do, then great! Go for him if you really want him. lol If you want to know more about their husbandry and such, just ask.

You know, I think that they are generally pretty good snakes in my experience. The ones that I see at pet shops are always bitey, but the ones that have regular handling are all pretty tame. That leads me to believe that if you want to keep one "tame" they require more handling than most. That is just my belief. I want one, they remind me of oversized ball pythons because they are so chunky!

CB is always the best to go with as they are more calm than the WC ones. But in my experience they are pretty good tempered snakes, I agree.

they can have a nasty temper, they get R.I.s really easy, but they can be really nice if they are held very often. YOU MUST HOLD THEM CONSTANTLY. They will not get better without you. they are great snakes to have, but you need to have some expirence. This should not be ur first snake, unless you really know your stuff. They get about 5 ft long and can weigh between 30-40 pounds. they must be supported everywhere or they will get hurt

they are beautiful animals no doubt. Mine is tempermental, she hates females but likes guys. They do get RIs really easy. Dont keep the humidity high because they are prone to scale rot. I soak mine for 15 mins every other day. Have a tub big enough for it to get in, they love the water. I think of them as a small burm. They're heavy bodied and need more room to turn around as they grow. They will be able to eat rabbits and jumbo rats, but not grow more than 7 foot. I love them and am looking for a male to breed to my female. I'm not looking to buy until April though.

Check out Tracy Barkers website Blood Pythons, Information and Care | Vida Preciosa International, Inc. and read about them there. I have no clue why I always here they get RI's so easy. I have had no problems with any of my 9 true captive born animals and my humidity drops lower than most people I hear saying they need. I think a lot of this may be due to wc and farmed animals being sold as cb just my thoughts but #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& what do I know??? I love these guys so much I have sold most of my collection of other animals just to work with them only.

Thats too much for a baby..Unless you have like 6 hides. 2 hot spot, 2 middle, 2 cool end..They stress easily. That should house life some get a bit to girthy for a 2ft cage IMO.
