Gypsy's House Change

I got so tired of seeing Gypsy's house looking so blah with just newspaper and her water bowl.

So I cleaned out her house and changed the substrate to timothy hay a nice piece of wood near her water dish/bath to see what she would do.

At first she just stared at everything and then tongue flicked her new enviroment. After a bit she went all over the place and settled onto her new wood branch. She really loved the change.

Here's a few shots of Gypsy in her new home.

I guess the next house change will have to be a larger home with more branch's.

Has any one ever used timothy hay for a substrate for ball pythons?

What I do is put a layer of newspaper on the bottom and then a laayer of timothy hay.

Tomothy Hay is a better hay to use. It's not so dusty and I have found so far my blue tongue skink loves to burrow through it and the snakes will settle into it like a nest.

It's just different and a change from what they are used to. I also though that might be a good substrate for a gravid ball python. The hay will keep it's warmth.

That's what I've noticed so far. Anyone else have any thoughts?

As for the mould, you just have to keep up on the house keeping. It's no worse than newspaper.
