After evaluating the fact the fact that i'm in college and do not have the necessary space to really get
involved with boas, due to the fact that they do get large, does anyone keep or have any knowledge about
blood pythons. If so just post.
Thanks

In regards to the Blood Pythons.. Ritchie I beleive keeps them. He also has a nicely packed care sheet of info on em on his site also. It's on his page for BLOOD PYTHONS . Just hit the link is all that I put here for it. Should cover what your looking for.

KLG also works with bloods, with plans to delve even further into them.

I got it moved.
I love Bloods and think that they are great looking snakes. In general I am all about my boas, but somehow I worked in a soft spot for Bloods. I guess that one day I will most likely have one.
I am about 99% sure that Ritchie keeps them Dvs.R. I believe that they get to be around 4.5 - 5 ft long. I have read that they actually do better in smaller cages b/c they are fairly seclusional animals. Their temps should be in the mid 70's to mid 80's and humidity should stay fairly high (70%?). They come in three different subspecies: Borneo, Malayan, and Sumatran.
Someone who is really an expert and not just a book reader will be along soon to add to this stuff. I hope this helps some though.
Good luck with these little beauties!
Ted

Believe it or not Ted, I've actually seen females that approached 9-10', and weighed 40-50'. They're definitely not the norm, though.

Thanks for the link to the care sheet. While I have the floor and there
are lots of people online, I know on the market there is a product
that fits 55 gallon tanks that sort of converts into a mini habitat.
It looks like half land and half water, so you can do lots with it. I was
wondering in anyone may have one, had one, or has any knowledge on
how to use it and if it would make a suitable snake environment. I read
on the care sheet that blood pythons like to sit in water and wait for
prey, I think it would be pretty cool habitat for a snake or any pet.

I wouldn't feed in the tank of course, but it would make a nice piece in
my upcoming living room.

You're not giving out bad info Ted. I threw that out there as a "gee whiz" kind of tangent. Like I said, females that large definitely aren't the norm, and the ones that I know of could be counted on one hand.

That's good to know. Even though it is a remote possibility someone should be aware that it can happen. Snakes are just like any other animal. There are some that are bigger than normal and some that are smaller than normal.
Personally, I think that the 55 gallon would be more of a PITA than it would be worth. That is for you to judge though. It would get on my nerves to have to syphon all that water out when he took a big crap in it every week. Imagine getting a mouthful of that!
If you enjoy the look enough for the work, that is all that matters.

If you are going to keep bloods....
And if you lack space.....
I suggest getting the borneos. They are a little smaller (on the average) than the red bloods.
I am not to familiar with the sumatran. (black bloods)
But I like them.\Unfortunately there was a point in time that I really really really really needed the money......So I sold my bloods. It was undofrtunate.... I got a REAL good deal on them and I just basically traded or sold them for much cheaper price.
I can't remember....one pair I traded one pair I sold...
but anyway...mine had attitudes............but I LOVED it.
I think you will love them
as soon as I get more money I will get into them again.

We have a couple of Borneo's and they are brilliant! In fact, I would go as far as to say that I enjoy their "antics" more than any of our other snakes. They are a tiny bit "testy" <G>, but if you can handle that you'll be fine. They really enjoy a good swim so regular baths are recommended, they are also completely gorgeous to look at too, when I look at ours I just want to grab them and plant a big kiss on the end of their noses! (NOT recommended!). I have resisted up to now tho
As everybody has said here, their girth is tremendous for their length. Ours are around the 3 - 3 1/2 foot mark and they have girth enough to take fair sized rats! Absolutely beautiful snakes, a real pleasure to look after.
