Hi fb4076,
I am in Australia and my Olive came from http://www.bunarongaquarium.com.au in Melbourne. The minute I saw her... I knew I had to have her
I couldn't recommend Olive Pythons highly enough!! I have had most of the different carpet pythons as well as Diamonds and Childrens over the years but Olive Pythons are just something completely different... they have so much personality. Only down side to the olives is you have to be prepared for the food bill.... my yearling girl eats more than most of my adults of other species!!
Cheers,
Misky

Bondi is beautiful. I totally love those eyes.
What about Ella's temper? A breeder had told me that olives are rather snappy. Is that true, or is that just some individuals personal opinion?

Okay, Ella is not what I would call "snappy" (I consider snappy to be a snake that bites without warning and for no apparent reason) she is however "Enclosure Defensive". She does not like people putting their hands into her enclosure!! When we get her out we generally just open her door and she will slither right out or we hook her out with a snake hook. Once she is out she is a perfect little lady and you could walk around with her draped around your neck without a problem... my partner's 10 year old brother even handles her with ease. When I first got her (about 2 months ago) you would not even dream of putting your hand into her enclosure (unless you wanted to lose a limb) and she would be looking to have a got at you by the time you were as close as 2 feet from the front of the enclosure but now nine out of ten times you could stick your hand in and pull her out without a problem and it is generally very easy to tell weather she is "not in the mood" by the way she holds herself. So in 2 months she has come along way and i have no doubt that given time and constant handling she will continue to improve. The other olives I have dealt with have been of great temperament (except for 1 who was also cage defensive but was fine once out of the enclosure.
At the end of the day there will be good Olives as there will be bad ones, but really although they are an awesome snake they are not a species I would recommend for a beginner simply because the sheer size can be very intimidating if you get one that decides it wants to play up a little (remember you could be dealing with a 6ft yearling !!).
