he's a sweetie. He loves to be arround my neck, i take him everywhere, he even went in Publix the other day b/c we didn't want to leave him in the car

When I first kept snakes, I used to take them out in public all the time, that is, untill I met people who kept snakes longer than I had.
I was informed that some people dont like snakes.. *gasp!!*

These are the folks who get laws passed banning ownership of herps. Now while I, personally, love to have curious people approach and ask questions and I love to educate them.. I still get the occasional spaz who acts really immature and makes a big scene.. These are the ones who can cause problems for all of us snake owners

General advice: Be selective where you take your snake in public (obviously the local Mcy D's is NOT a good snake environment..), Petstores are really NOT good places for your snakes
Reason #1: too many people
Reason #2: too many ignorant people
Reason #3: too many different smells...hello, rodents!

Be respectful to those around you..(in other words, dont be tempted, as I am, to chase the spazzes down with the snake..

)

Another thing, if your "never has bitten anyone before" snake suddenly strikes lil' Jimmy who just left the gerbil cage, what will happen to your snake?? I promise that wont be one of those "it will blow over" things...
These are all things to take into consideration when having your snakes around others..

yeah i had just had him at my mom's house and dad picked me up, i had a pillow case and whatnot (just to make shure he wouldn't get nervouse but i was carrying him arround in that with my hand in the bag) i know that snakes are wild no matter how "tame" they may seem. i'll keep that in mind to, usually i don't take him that many places but my mom wanted to see him so i took him over there for a couple houres. haha, it's not like i said "hew lets take Val to piblix" hehehe, I can't believe so many ppl don't like them ::stupid steryotypes::

if i could i would take him everywhere, but i know thats not feesable. thanx for the tips

i love my snakes too much to have to put them in a situation where i might loose them becarse some

decides they don't like him. ::sigh:: too many people misjudge snakes and it upsets me. i meen it's not like their evil and out to get you .... i wish i could change everyone's minds, every now and then i go to the shop where i got Val b/c i know the owner and i stand back in the reptile area and when ppl walk up, they have lots of questions about snakes and stuff, it's fun to educate people. Kids are alot easier to sway than adults
