Question Is this normal?

For those who don't, here's a little reposition...
Three weeks ago, I acquired my first BP. He's a yearling. He's very calm and eating well. So, here's my question...

Zorro, my BP, seems to be very easy-going. He doesn't seem to mind being handled. However, whenever you touch him within a couple inches of the tip of his tail, he tends to jerk away. When touched or held anywhere else on his body, nothing seems to tickle or hurt him. It's just the last 2"-3", at the tail.

Anyone else experience this with their BP or other snakes?

All my snakes absolutely hate been touched at the ends of their tails. Some of them will do just about anything to get away from you if you try it. LOL.

yep mine are the same way. what is wierd is when i first touch chances tail she jerks but if i start scratching the underside of her tail she loves it. she will hold it up in the air and stay there as long as i will tickle or scratch.

Mine do the same thing...the "jerk" is only at the first or un-expected touch...after that, they are cool with it, and don't seem to mind at all.

Most snakes dont like their tails messed with..Bps are known to be a bit head shy, but I have found if I start petting them on the back and work my way up to the neck and see how they are tolerating it, I can usually tell if I am allowed to mess with their heads..otherwise they think Im going to eat them..As though I would eat anything other than Mexican food, Pizza... and twinkies..lol
