My ball python was doing great, eating all the time and starting to shed. But, then he just stopped moving. He stayed in his hide day and night and wouldnt take food. Also he retained the entire shed. So i got worried and took him out tonight to discover a bunch of little bugs on him. I counted 8. I took them off of him, killed them then took the little guy to the bathtub for a nice soak. After his soak he was placed in a 5gal feeder tank with bare conditions. My questios is what do i do now? Where the #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& did these little #$&%^ s come from. When i bought him he was free of mites, i looked very closley. Also, can they harm me? I am starting to think they may have been in the substrate i used (cypress mulch) but im not sure. Thanks

wow, a question i can actually answer.. Well.. I've come to find that mites are coming from the food, AFTER he eats it an poops.. I'm not sure if thats correct, but thats the only way they can get in my cage and only time I ever see them. Once he sheds they go away though, but after seeing mites in your cage you should give it a thorough cleaning.. They can not harm humans, I've never even had 1 get on me 2 tell tha truth, they'd rather stick on tha snake.. Petstores sale different kinds of sprays to get rid of the mites on your snake, i've never had 2 use em though..
