Sunday we fed em an ice mice, he grubbed as usual but this was the first time i've seen him eat it backwards.. Afterwards it seemed he was having trouble getting it down, had to keep his head up towards tha sky for it to slide down I guess for a couple of hours.. This week we fed em a live mouse, he snapped at it, constricted it but then did somethin strange.. Instead of eating it head first, he went tail first again. Then he let it go, spit it back out an grabbed tha head.. Then, spit it back out, an started chewing on the hind legs.. I don't know what tha #$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& he was doin, any1 got a clue? He seems fine now, ate an didn't even slow em down. Now hes juss wanderin around his cage.. Thanks..

PS: I will have pics of my ball python up very soon, with my brothers Leo' Gecko that we got 2day.. Hes a lil fiesty for now though, need 2 let him chill, haha.. holla

Sounds fine as long as he ate. But, if he is slithering around in his cage, I would probly try to give him another mouse. Sounds like hees still hungry

Well I have no way to know how old he is, although he is about 1 foot, 8 inches.. He has always eaten well, an is noticably growing an gettin fatter.. So I guess I should raise the amount of food he eats, didn't really think about it. I heard tha term power feed or somethin, im guessin that means feeding a lot so they will grow faster.. Any1 give me tha basics on that??

Power feeding means different things to different people, I gather, but basically it's cramming as much food as your snake can hold without regurging down its gullet in one feeding and then repeating as soon as possible without waiting an appropriate time period for the snake to finish digesting properly. This encourages rapid and massive growth of the snake, but it also leads to incredibly shortened lifespans and other health issues. It's not really recommended. The prey items you give your snake should be only slightly larger around than the snake at its widest part when the prey item is dead and stretched out. If you're feeding mice you probably want to feed once every 5-7 days (or was it 7-10 once they're on full-size mice?) I just feed once a week on the same day every week. When your snake gets bigger and your prey gets bigger to match, the feedings become further (or is it farther? I can never remember) apart.

Bettina

One thing that is making him hungry all the time is lack of QUALITY food.
Swap to rats, in the appropriate size and he will get more of what he needs in less feedings.
Which for now should be every 7 - 8 days.
