Anyone have Childrens or Spotted Pythons???

I have been reading the caresheet as well as looking at prices and I am really interested in getting one. I haven't really choosen one over the other because they really appear to be so similar. I was just looking for someone that actually has (or knows someone) one and could give me some feedback. Thanks for your help!!!

I've owned a few Spotted's in my time. Great little snakes~!! Always ate and never skipped a meal. Great temperments, and easy to care for. Nothing but props for this species of Aussie python. I've heard that Children's are almost exactly identical other than color and markings. Hope this helps a bit~!

I've got a Children's - my first snake. He's a really great snake, eats like theres no tomorrow except for going off feed in the winter (no matter what, it hits mid november/early december he quits eating). We do have to feed multiple small prey items due to head being smaller than the rest of his body, but he'll take just about anything he can get his mouth on. Very easy to care for and he was very forgiving of the (multiple) husbandry mistakes I made when I first got him. He's got the sweetest temperment and has never bitten anybody, or even acted menacing. He has convinced several people that snakes arent so bad after all - even if they started out scared of him. Our biggest concern is his size since its harder to just hang out with a smaller snake and you have to hold onto them a little more. Do consider getting one that is large enough to eat a full pinky, unless you WANT to cut up the pinkies to feed them to him plus and I've heard babies of that size can be difficult feeders. Our's color has faded out signifigantly - when we got him as a baby he had a very distinct brown pattern but as he got older his backround color darkened until you can hardly see the spots on him now. I highly recommend a childrens to most potential snake owners - but mainly, what are you looking for in a snake?

Here's a pic of mine several months ago. He's about to shed right now so I will take newer pics after.

Ive had a CapeYork for close to 3 years now, as said before, great snake, they stay small ( under 4 ft) mines never missed a meal, easy to care for, and was pretty tame straight from the get go.

What I am looking for in a snake is a smaller python (like the 2 BPs that I have), good temperment, easy maintanence and likes to be handled. I enjoy my BPs a lot and want to expand to get another snake.

I appreciate all your input!!! Thanks!!!

Well, based on that, I would say at least my children's fits what you are looking for based on your description perfectly. One thing I didnt mention about ours though - as he's gotten older and his pattern has darkened I've found its difficult to tell sometimes when he's in blue since his eyes are the color of the rest of him (most pics of them I've seen their eyes are a little yellower and I assume owners of those wouldnt have this problem but Squeakys eyes are the same color as the rest of him now) so its sometimes hard to know when to raise his humidity and all that for shedding. He's always shed perfectly regardless. I hope we were able to help =).
