also, right after killing it, try offering it so it doesnt loose its warmth. when you tryed feedin f/t, you made the rat look "alive" right

I have a wildcaught female ball python that hasn't taken f/t food on her own for me yet and I've had her for a year now. But I haven't given up and given her live prey though, either.
I've only gotten her to take two small meals for me since I've had her but I had to assist feed her by sticking the head of the f/t rat in her mouth, but I did not force feed.

Please try what Rex suggested, maybe alittle blood coming out of the rats nose wouldn't hurt either. Then you can switch over to F/T.

Hello,
Like I said before, I try a f/t everytime so I haven't "given up". I know giving live isn't the best idea but if that's all he'll take, its fine with me. There are plenty of big name breeders and keepers that feed live because some snakes just won't take anything that isn't breathing.
He is CBB by the way.

Was he previously fed mice or rats? That can make a big difference... if he was fed mice before, it's a lot harder to get them to eat rats.

Try just putting him in a seperate tub then leaving him there for an hour or so. If he doesn't eat then wait a week and try again. Just keep doing that eventually he'll get the idea. Even if he doesn't eat for a few weeks I'd rather have that then the consequences of what could happen if you continue to feed him live.
