roxxys new encloser
well roxxy is moving into her new encloser tonite! get her out of the 10 gal tank! is there anything i should do to make sure of a smooth move?
i am test running it right now! temp seem to be getting to the 90deg mark with just a black light! and she also has a uth in there . i cut a piece of plex glass and put it over the uth and them put bedding over the plex-glass. that should work fine right?

Is the UTH inside of the enclosure?? If so...that is a big no no The ball python will find a way to get under the plexi...I am sure of it. They can get anywhere and fit in anything. What is the enclosure made of? And is the black light in the enclosure as well? If it is, make sure it is screened off so the snake doesn't burn its little snout.

i put my inside under newspaper with my thermostat probe taped directly to the flexwatt...... I do hope you are using a thermostat or other heat control device because that flexwatt can reach temps of 120 F

If you must, you can silicone the plexi down. It works well but it can be a pain to get up

no. as of right now i use heat tape controlled by a thermostat on one enclosure, and human heat pads and lamps on dimmers on the others. you do know if the cages are identical you can use the same thermostat on them as longa s you dont go over the wattage limit of the thermostat right?

My heat tape is on the outside of my cages and they are made of 1/4" plywood and I am hitting my temps no problem. Just safer for the snake IMO. But if it is secured down and you are using some sort of thermometer or keeping a very close eye on your dimmer temps, you should be fine.
