A kid from the National guard is getting activated and has offered me 65 bucks a month to take care of his 2 ball python's.. he will be gone for 18 months.. it sounds like a good deal, but to be honest i dont know anything about them.. and he said right now they are refusing food, does that sound like somthing i want to get into?

depends on your patience. ball pythons are notorious for going off fed. ball pythons are not to hard to care for. slight differences in temp and thats about it. also need higher humidity, only when in shed though

I would say if they are not eating right now (although that can be completely normal this time of year) make sure to get it in writing that you are in charge of their basic care and if something happens to them that is not negligence on your part that you are not responsible. That way if they are sick and something happens you are not responsible for it. Ball pythons are usually easy to care for, but they can be stubborn feeders sometimes and are really great at hiding disease.

Also make sure he's willing to pay for vet bills if something comes up.

It's winter and one of my BPs is fasting. It isn't as stressful as you may think as long as you pay attention to the snake's weight and alertness. Be sure you know everything about the snakes before you take them. What they prefer to eat, their past health history, etc. I agree with everyone else about the documentation of him paying for vet bills and such.

I would jump on the deal they are fun snakes! Just keep them seperate and make sure of the vet thing. Sorry but my ball has hardly ever refused food. Only once when I switched her from live to f/t.
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!
