Its dinner time!!!!
I finally got to handle Jackson tonight before I fed him. He is not shy at all and was crawling all over me. The reptile store I got him from said he was about 6 months old. I measured him tonight and he is 19 inches long. Does that seem about right for his age??He ate a f/t rat pup for dinner..his first rat..he gobbled it right down.He has a wonderful appitite.hope it stays that way. My camera isn't the best, but thought i would share some pics anyways. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season.

Look at 'em eat. Yea for you and Jackson. It's been forever since I had a ball but I think the measurement sounds okay. He's eating anyways so you know he'll grow healthy.

my boas used to eat whilst i was holding them... i only did it a couple of times whilst they were little but they were so unbothered about being handled you could offer them a meal with one hand whilst holding them with the other...
i must stress they were ickle and this is obviously not a sensible thing to do, hence i stopped doing it! but it's nice to know they weren't stressed out about being handled, even at such a young age.

Lovely looking ball Connie, very nice pattern down his back! Looks like he enjoyed his rat too! lol
Sounds like you've let him settle in well which always helps to promote a good feeding response. We don't handle after they eat for 48 hours and on feeding day (Thursdays around here) we do cage maintenance and just pretty much leave them be handling wise. Most of them are well into "were in heck is MY rat!" mode anyways and aren't much in the mood for being messed with LOL. Gotta love a ball python with a killer feeding instinct!
Big thing with balls seems to be to get a routine established and stick with it faithfully. They really seem to respond well to that and recognize, in a basic way, what's going on within that routine.
He sounds about right at 19 inches for 6 months.
